To know how to cook is not to know recipes. Cooking is a set of techniques and methods for creating flavor. There are a few basic techniques that will allow you to cook anything.

Make sure you really know how to cook a steak, a chicken breast, vegetables. Make sure you know how to control your heat and get your food flavorful through browning but not burning. Learn to saute, pan fry, boil, simmer, deep fry, deglaze, chop, slice, and dice.

Learn the elements of flavor and how they interact with each other. Make dishes from many cultures. Make them awesome. Be honest with yourself when your food comes out bad. Figure out why and keep trying.

Get a chef's knife and learn to use it. No more excuses to use a tiny knife.

There is no actual reason to make drugs illegal. It is pointless. It doesn't keep people from doing drugs. It causes crime and allows criminals to become wealthy and makes them dangerous.

"Sending a message to children" is a bullshit reason to make something illegal. Shooting yourself in the face isn't explicitly illegal, but kids aren't running around doing it because no one made it illegal.
