It may sound insignificant, but I just paid off my credit card, my car and my student loan and now don't owe any bank a single dollar. What are your achievements you'd like to share? by thatguyintheskyin AskReddit

I got a full-tuition scholarship, with a study-abroad stipend, to an out-of-state private college that my mother attended 30 years ago. I was one of five to get it, narrowed down from the 40 from all over the country at the competition weekend, where we had to write an impromptu essay, give an impromptu speech, have an interview with faculty members, and have a round-table discussion.

I'm actually kind of excited for college, since all I have to pay for my undergrad is room and board.

Are football uniforms sized normally? Like, if there's a small, is it a normal-small-mens' size? Because that seems like such a waste to me. It'd make more sense to redefine the size for football players, right?

I was thinking about this on the bus the other day and pondered aloud to my boyfriend. He wasn't as intrigued as I was.

EDIT: Everyone's being all philosophical. I'm just concerned about the sizing charts, guys.

Oh my God, yes. I'm 18 and no one seems to understand why I think he's such a LadyBoner. He's both attractive AND intelligent AND funny! Plus he's older, which is excellent.

Do any of you kids know how Facebook works? Jesus. This was someone else's status. Unless the OP was a douche (which he isn't), he wouldn't like his own status. Getting pissed because the OP isn't providing a badge number is rather bitchy.

tl;dr: it's the Internet, quit complaining.

I doubt this will get any points, but I just have to ask:

The second time I took the test, I got 790 on the writing section. I looked over the comprehensive answers and the scores and everything, and I could not find one error. Why on earth would those 10 points be taken off? This has bothered me for a few years now. Thanks!

As a current Indiana resident, I resent this comic. But I will potentially moving to Louisville soon, so maybe I won't in the future. My impression before, though, was that Louisville was the one bright spot in Kentucky... but that's just me. And all of Indiana.

I'm pretty sure cases like this where parents try to claim their 6, 4, 2, year old children have GID hurts the case of adults who are actually transgendered (If there is such a thing, I'm pretty much on the fence.)

... it exists. It's not something for you to be 'on the fence' about.

TIL that although Reddit tries to be all progressive, there sure are a lot of assholes when it comes to transgender/transsexual people.

If the kid doesn't feel like a boy right now, let him switch to being a boy, and then if she doesn't feel like a girl later, let her switch back to being a boy. I really can't understand why this is a big deal to some people. When I have children (in a few decades), I hope this kind of ignorance will not be such an issue.

Help me with a college decision (not from KY) by scomet18in Louisville

[–]scomet18[S] 0 points1 point ago

At this point, they are the only two colleges that have given me enough money to keep me interested. I have also gotten at least half-tuition scholarships from Ball State University, Butler, DePauw, and DePaul. I applied regular-decision to Northwestern and am still waiting to hear back from them, but I doubt I will get any/much money, and their tuition is scary looking when it comes to student loans.

It's going on at IU and a lot of other universities too. It seems like all of the college students I know are just now discovering the internet and have to share it with everyone (not to get all hipster-meme or anything).

I don't go to BSU, but I go to IASMH, and I still understand all of them. That makes them general and not specific to the school... which is super annoying.

What is your go-to-answer when the teacher/professor tells you to to say one interesting fact about yourself? by chrisdoferin AskReddit

My little brother and I have the same birthday. He is exactly two years younger than me.

I also have Duane Syndrome, which means my left eye doesn't turn left. So I see double when I try to turn it. People tend to think this is the shit.

I've been asked this since freshman year. It's never gotten less annoying. Mostly because we won't know about financial stuff until later, so no, I can't make a decision at the moment. It seems to disappoint the elders, though..

What's the word you absolutely hate people for using? by rda_Highlanderin AskReddit

I hate it when people say that, after something minimal happened, they were so "depressed." Depression is a serious condition; you're not depressed when you can't find your favorite shirt. You're sad. Get over it.

I was independent(ish) for the first time. I met a cute boy. We started hanging out a lot. He was (and is) the best person I had ever met.

I never told my boyfriend at the time, but I broke up with him out of guilt/other issues. I've now been dating the boy I cheated with for a little over a year.

Woman on Tumblr extorts money and gifts from friends/followers through fake illnesses and elaborate photos/videos by scomet18in offbeat

[–]scomet18[S] 1 point2 points ago

Background info: This Tumblr was, until recently, run by two girls named Cara and Lauren. Cara claimed to have cancer, along with a number of different horrific illnesses/disorders, and Lauren was her friend of 4+ years who helped keep people updated during her hospital visits. Cara used this Tumblr to make friends with people who would then sympathetically send her money or items from her Amazon wishlist. Recently, Lauren discovered that almost all of Cara's existence and their friendship based on this was a lie. Cara had ordered medical supplies and manipulated her family members and technology to pretend that she was ill.

TL;DR: Crazy girl uses fake illnesses to get sympathy/gifts from Internet strangers. Not the first time.
