I was skeptical at first but damn that dirty sound + 8 bit is just nasty.

Capitalism VS Communism by iamnotfromtexas90in Libertarian

I think your definition of "doing better" is skewed. Several billion people do not have adequate (or no) health coverage and the GDP per capita is still around $5000.

China does have a growing middle class and it'll be interesting to see where it will be in 10-20 years.

That shit went down on Clark and Division? I'm probably going to resist pulling my phone out on L in the future.

Questions about the NATO Summit by pixelharmonyin chicago

[–]pixelharmony[S] 2 points3 points ago

Tuesday. 2:01AM it will be live. I'm going to gamestop at midnight tonight. Apparently I preordered this game a couple years ago and forgot about it. I was about to buy it from battle.net.

I wanted to see the NATO protest first hand, but I probably will work from home Thursday-Monday. It's convenient it aligns with Diablo III's launch.

Pretty vague without additional details.

It's not about legislation. It's about the individual homophobic person that is causing pain for anyone that has LGBT sexual orientation. Even if it was illegal but if friends and family embraced them there wouldn't an issue like this. People aren't afraid LGBT community because of law, law is there because those people want it there.

When I saw those fat tire bikes I didn't really get it. This is awesome.

Bike thief caught, while security guards do nothing. by botchok5in bicycling

Telescopic batons are definitely illegal in Illinois. To be honest I commute to work on a bike that isn't worth an altercation. I never let my nice bike out of my line of sight.

The high schooler next to me at the stop light has a nicer car than I do. by dboggiain firstworldproblems

But a happy moron with a fancy car.

If someone feels better by buying a nice car I can't fault them for it. I like to eat at nice restaurants but save money for it by not drinking alcohol, going to movies, concerts, or sporting events. People think I'm crazy for paying $100+ for a meal but to me it's money well spent.

Last I checked a Camry can still go over 100 MPH, so can a Civic or a Prius.

Luxury doesn't mean they go faster.

Even in America this is the case. I went to my alma mater and the parking lots at some of the clubs are filled with 40K+ cars and a few 100K+ cars. All from millioinaire rich kids sent to America for a better education.

The employees are literally mentally ill. They must have some deep rooted anger issues. No excuses that these are just livestock or commodities. You can treat animals humanely even if they are going to be slaughtered.

Frugal, I need some negotiation tips! by MaeMabelin Frugal

I tend to stay away from used cars when I can help it. I've bought two used cars and one turned out to have been in an accident with several panels being replaced/repainted. I of course couldn't tell since the carfax was clean and the seller didn't mention a thing. A local dealer told me when I tried to sell the car back to them when their used car manager did a thorough inspection.

Not saying don't do it, but if you can afford to buy new just save yourself potential hassle.

If you're buying a used car within warranty or a CPO and can extend the warranty. You are in much better hands.

LPT Request: Anything and everything to deal with allergies by Tsumin LifeProTips

Just find the allergy medicine that works for you. zyrtec has worked much better for me than allegra, claritin, and flonase/nasonex.

Buying my first car. What is the cheapest option? by strawlionin Frugal

[–]pixelharmony -3 points-2 points ago

This is important. I commute to work via bicycle > Train > walking. And in Chicago this is actually faster than driving in.

I would look at my credit card statements

I just saw that and assume it is CC. You're right 25K in student loans / Car Loans isn't much at all. But that would suck on a high interest CC.

I have an earlier model Sonata. The newest generation sonata is great!

I personally would only deal with dealers unless you know a mechanic that will check the car for free. Warranty is full transferred regardless of how the car was purchased until the factory (usually 40K bumper bumper 100K powertrain 4yr/10yr? which ever comes first) expires. You can also buy extended warranty options before your warranty expires. Just be careful if there was an accident or damage, it could void parts of the warranty if it was due to misuse or external damage.

They seem to be baking decent profit back into it. Shop around, a new one isn't that much more than 20K and I believe on 2012's they are offering 0.9% APR, and you can probably lower the cars price below invoice. Then throw in your trade.

Good luck!!
