Bassnectar interview on NPR. He discuss his influences, his music, and the current state of DJing. by buibuiin electronicmusic

[–]New_Wav 4 points5 points ago

yeah, I'm pretty sure Girl Talk mixes a lot of his stuff live.

He's in the category with Deadmau5 and company. A lot of it is done live, some elements maybe not so much but the show is fun so people deal with it.

What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

[–]New_Wav 0 points1 point ago

I always heard it as you can only use 10-20% at any given moments. You use the entirety of your brain to store all kinds of knowledge and other given info but you can only use and access 10-20% of it at one time.

Have you tried this zombie infection "gamemode" yet? by bluebird19in battlefield3

I just want another game to have the level of easy in customization Halo did.

Forge was really nice, but really if I could have anything I would transfer the Halo Custom games set-up to other games.

Reddit gets butthurt over an article that doesn't praise Nicola Tesla... by Aydarshin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 5 points6 points ago

The problem Reddit has is you have a lot of young kids reading this CURE FOR CANCER, ULTIMATE ENERGY ZERO POLLUTANT SOURCE news. Which is great as far as I'm concerned. Hey they are learning something and staying up on technology and advancements within the world.

Problem is they don't understand how business and testing work. Yeah the new energy source/generator is super efficient but it is also expensive and until it comes down in price, under goes some more testing, has some tax breaks set up to use it and whatever else very few people are going to adopt and use it.

Same goes for medical just different situations and scenarios, but in the end it all comes down to a failure to understand the economics and laws behind the stuff. It might be a breakthrough but getting it implemented on a mass scale is expensive so it isn't going to replace anything with anything else fast.

Origin Waives Distribution Fees for Crowd-Funded Games. (For the first 90 days) by dressedAsDogin gaming

[–]New_Wav 0 points1 point ago

Or EA understand that if they get those games and devs in early they are likely to stick with them and in the end can result in better profits. If games are good players will come to them, regardless of service, and if you have better incentive for developers to go with your service over your competitors they'll use your service.

Small insignificant things. by CorduroyTimePiecein circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 4 points5 points ago

I sort of understand some of them. Like it is an object you put importance on and it seems important to you but when you loose it you finally realize just how important it was.

Granted that one doesn't apply to all of the things listed but in some cases I can really understand it.

The thing I hate most on threads like these are

My grandfather's watch. It has a huge history in my family, and it's even been through a couple of wars. When my girlfriend and I left town she left it on the little kangaroo statue by the door. How could she forget it?! I specifically told her not to!

You aren't even trying dude. It is like people want to live up to those really long drawn out troll stories they've seen screen shots of on 4chan but instead just end up summarizing a scene from a movie. It isn't funny, you put little to no effort into the post and the comment is a waste of space.

"Hey guys my friend just paid off a $100K plus student loan in cash, in Canada." That is cool and all, let me tell you why the US sucks one more time! by New_Wavin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav[S] 1 point2 points ago

This is true, native TV shows and movies do very well in their native lands across Europe and into other parts of Europe. The thing is, they have all those shows that do well which is great but many US shows and movies work their way into and become adopted in other cultures around the globe more than we adopt theirs. Sure we appreciate and watch shows from Britain and other places globally but the overall impact of the entertainment they create isn't as great as the impact of entertainment made by studios and companies within the US.

I was thinking of a capacitor that would send a good jolt through the police equipment.

Can you even do that?

Still it has a pretty nice layout. Pretty easy to read.

My First "Photoshop Work". Is There Anything I could Improve or Change? by Bizkain photoshop

[–]New_Wav 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, the is the way to do it really. And Rambo looks pretty good. Just on his right side you can see those edges. You can fix that by feathering the edges a little bit so it seems to blend a bit more and it doesn't give off such a hard unnatural edge. You can also play with some of the blur filters/effects for that layer to see if that helps at all too.

My First "Photoshop Work". Is There Anything I could Improve or Change? by Bizkain photoshop

[–]New_Wav 2 points3 points ago

Looks really good. Pretty much everything looks and seems to fix nicely with the original.

When shopping people in be careful of their edges. Where he overlaps with your or whoever's arm you can see am edge.

Also it takes time to learn it, but the tree behind the car is pretty clear where cuts got made. Just needs to be blended a little better no big deal.

Outside of all that it looks good. Car fits in pretty and the grass filled in nicely.

Picture of "Autistic" Person + Degree = front page of /r/pics by Jayrossin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 9 points10 points ago

Reddit seems to act like autism can't be a very mild thing. Like you can have kids who have serious mental disabilities be considered autistic and that is what people think of autistic as.

Problem is a person with some sort very minor but persistent issues in communication or social skills can be considered autistic yet if you talked to them one on one you'd think nothing was wrong with them other than "He was a nice guy, seemed a little different though."

[XP + Win Vista & 7 sometimes] Restart Your Windows PC without restarting the entire computer. by New_Wavin TechProTips

Yes thank you. I amended that. I forgot to type that in the first time.

Also does changing the registry value do a full restart of the OS not entire PC restart, just out of curiosity.

"Hey guys my friend just paid off a $100K plus student loan in cash, in Canada." That is cool and all, let me tell you why the US sucks one more time! by New_Wavin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav[S] 6 points7 points ago

That is true. They've tried to keep it in some cases I've remembered and the person, even if it was a drawn out legal process usually got their money back.

I'm just saying I don't put it past people, even law enforcement, to try and abuse loopholes at times. Even if it generally works out to what is fair and just in the end.

Interesting court decision in Finland over open wifi networks on piracy, US POLICE STATE! by New_Wavin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav[S] 0 points1 point ago

Very true. The US has some work to still do on that front in spots as far as I'm concerned and I have to give credit to Finland for making this decision, but just because we don't have the exact same law in the US doesn't make it the information locked police state people want to say it is.

It is almost like they think passive aggressive complaining on the internet will actually result in some sort of change!

"Hey guys my friend just paid off a $100K plus student loan in cash, in Canada." That is cool and all, let me tell you why the US sucks one more time! by New_Wavin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav[S] 5 points6 points ago

Yeah, and it does have some unfair loopholes, like even if it turns out to be perfectly legal the cops sometimes find ways to hold onto the money.

What I hate is that people act like the fact that this law exist makes it seem like the US is some totalitarian police state. It is a poor stereotype I hate seeing perpetuated via biased articles, comments and whatever else. And what really bothers me is when it invades the comments are articles it doesn't really belong in.

R/atheism and internet polls. by Aaronblinderjewin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 1 point2 points ago

I feel like /r/atheism is mostly 13 year old kids who don't realize the different in ideological views that are out there.

As far as most of them are concerned you are the good all believing Christian at the church your parents dragged them too as small children or you have no faith in god. You have no middle ground as far as most of them are concerned.

R/atheism and internet polls. by Aaronblinderjewin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 3 points4 points ago

But they would hate for large poll results to come out saying that a lot of people aren't atheist, the conversion rate is low, and they aren't oppressed.

They hope people buy into whatever results they skew if they even get published and if they don't get published they've just ruined a perfectly good data collection scenario that could of come out with a statistical outcome they don't like. It is really a win win.

The people on /r/atheism for the most part no better than the christian they complain about when it comes to shoving some bullshit agenda down people's throats.

The problem with Trees by magruffin circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 0 points1 point ago

I feel like it is addictive, just it is way harder to get addicted to and it sort of straddles that line alcohol does. It is for sure addictive but it depends on who's doing it. Some people are just fine and smoke or drink for fun. Other need it to function in one way or another.

Ratheist portrays his "friends" as crying babies and is offended that they call him an asshole. by loserbum3in circlebroke

[–]New_Wav 6 points7 points ago

Or know the stopping points. I talk to my friends about politics and religion sometimes but when someone can tell someone isn't ever going to agree with them for whatever reason we drop it because people are entitled to their different view points on such things.

You are 'that smug asshole' when you try to show everyone in a room how smart you are based on a belief or stance and won't take no for an answer when people don't agree with you.

Why can't Windows be restarted without rebooting the entire computer? by Justwanin answers

[–]New_Wav 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, it is uneven. I get it to work sometimes on one of my windows 7 computer, it never works on the other. Did work well in XP however, what changed to make it not work, I don't know. I wish the documentation stated why the functionality changed.

Why can't Windows be restarted without rebooting the entire computer? by Justwanin answers

[–]New_Wav 8 points9 points ago

Actually you can do it.

I've never gotten it to work on Windows 7 particularly well but it worked on XP.

The offical Microsoft article on restarting Windows without restarting the computer says the documentation is somewhat outdated and may not work in all cases but fails to give any further reasoning.

Those of you who smoked and quit; What got you into it and how long after you quit did you start to feel better? by New_Wavin AskAgain

[–]New_Wav[S] 1 point2 points ago

That is really weird. If you could fix the issue of your feet smelling and assuming your feet feel better when you don't have shoes on I'd say just wear sandals or take your shoes off when your in your office.

I don't know what else to tell you other than maybe consult a podiatrist. That situation really sucks.
