The forever alone posts from teenagers. You're 16, it's OK if you don't have a long term girlfriend.

[–]OblivionGuardsman 393 points394 points ago

Try having a 14 year old daughter. It's like a live stream of forever alone sadness. "But dad we were dating forever" And it had been like two months.

[–]Rowdybunny05 221 points222 points ago

The older you get, the longer extent of time "forever" means. When I was a teenager, two months was forever. Now that I'm 30, I start a new job in two weeks, and I'm scared to death I won't be ready in time, since 2 weeks means "tomorrow" to me.

[–]Faranya 91 points92 points ago

You should start expressing time as a fraction of your total life.

At about 30, two weeks is the equivalent of ~0.1% of your life!

[–]sayitbackwards 82 points83 points ago

Now that's just depressing.

[–]Fealiks 15 points16 points ago

I'm pretty sure there's a scientific basis to this.

Edit: It kind of does. I found the article I was thinking of: http://everything2.com/user/Professor%20Pi/writeups/Why%20time%20appears%20to%20speed%20up%20with%20age

[–]pretty_fly_fly 53 points54 points ago

13 year old sister. She was depressed on Valentine's Day because she's single. She's a very lovely girl, but she refuses to believe me and her friends until she has a boyfriend that will confirm that she's attractive.

[–]lookakite 22 points23 points ago

My 13-year-old niece was dumped by her boyfriend. When my sister tried to console her she screamed, "MOM! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS FEELS LIKE! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" She then went on to say that no other boy is ever going to like her and she's going to be alone forever.

Ah. Hormones.

[–]GARBAGEDAYY 9 points10 points ago

Does she read teen magazines? I swore off them when I was 14 and my self esteem thanked me for it. I couldn't quite believe how much of what I deemed "good" or acceptable about myself and other people came from what those sorts of media told me what to do.

[–]nella20 548 points549 points ago

You don't need to be over-35 for that to piss you off.

[–]miekstro_v2 309 points310 points ago

As a 15 year old, I can confirm that this pisses me off as well.

[–]screwyluey 632 points633 points ago

As a fetus, I am confused as to how I have internet access.

[–]Liru_wizard 222 points223 points ago

...Wife why the fuck is there an ethernet cable penetrating you.

[–]Aulritta 15 points16 points ago

Can wifi go through both skin and amniotic fluid?

[–]Sugar_buddy 19 points20 points ago

If you use enough force, yeah.

[–]HughManatee 61 points62 points ago

I remember feeling like that back when I was a teenager, so I can cut them some slack. They don't yet have the life experience necessary to put things into perspective.

[–][deleted] 47 points48 points ago

My biggest issue is that the internet is anonymous. You can hide your age. So what happens is you have children with no life experience asking for advice from adults who assume they're also adults. And then it just starts getting ridiculous.

From a 14 year old trying to argue the physics of stopping a car moving 70mph, to a 16 year old virgin chiming in on a sex advice conversation.

[–]baffled_soap 32 points33 points ago

Looking at things from the opposite perspective, nothing used to piss me off more as a teenager than adults that would write off my worries by saying, "You don't yet have the life experience necessary to put things into perspective." I realized that at the time, but every new problem a child encounters is also the most difficult one of her life so far, so it seems like a bigger deal than it will be looking back.

Tl;dr: Either way, perspective's a bitch.

[–]mrmann6 1243 points1244 points ago

The most cringing I do is when the 20-somethings post "remember when" stuff and my 44 year old ass goes "wasn't that last week.

[–]TheOpus 698 points699 points ago

I do the same. But then my 42-year old ass realizes that "last week" was 1998. Then I cringe for a whole different reason.

[–][deleted] 733 points734 points ago

You can't be held responsible in the first place, you were only freshmen.

[–]sapere_aude 278 points279 points ago

Merely

[–]KingOctavious 228 points229 points ago

Anyone who gets this reference should somehow get an automatic +1.

[–]Tina_Feys_Mons_Pubis 387 points388 points ago

Man, I wish I got it; but for the life of me, I can not remember.

[–]Coldhardt 272 points273 points ago

Me neither; what made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise?

[–]---sniff--- 209 points210 points ago

Dunno? For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins.

[–]Garroch 148 points149 points ago

I took a weeks vacation to forget this reference

[–]themraustin 118 points119 points ago

I took a weeks worth of Valium and slept

[–]SaggyBallsHD 90 points91 points ago

I'm guilt stricken and sobbing with my head on the floor for getting this reference.

[–]SefuHotman 27 points28 points ago*

What makes think that they were wise?

Edit: Not gonna fix it.

[–]fj555 195 points196 points ago

I was in a McDonalds a few years ago. The cash registers had gone out, but they were still open. The kid behind the counter said "With the power down we'll have to do it the old fashioned way," and he pulled out a calculator. (For the young folks, that's not the old fashioned way).

[–]chesebrough 170 points171 points ago

i predict that if/when enough young people start using calculators again, the hipsters will move to use the abacus. and it will be glorious.

[–]probablysarcastic 32 points33 points ago

Slide rule first

[–]Harold_Grundelson 14 points15 points ago

Something similar to me happened at a restaurant and the guy behind the counter looked at me and said "what would we do without calculators?"

My response, "Math."

[–]anoxymoron 233 points234 points ago

I'm 23 and I still occasionally write the date as '19XX'.

My grandmother had two time frames: 'before the war' and 'the other day'.

[–]bratling 34 points35 points ago

My grandmother had two time frames: 'before the war' and 'the other day'.

As do I. Except her war was WWII, and mine was Gulf War 1. Which, come to think of it, was exactly half my life ago...

[–]anoxymoron 52 points53 points ago

When I was little I imagined her 'before the war' stories happening in black and white, I am going to choose to imagine yours as full of neon and eighties hair.

[–]ROBOT-DINOSAUR-NINJA 104 points105 points ago

Yeah... or stuff like, "When I was 8 years old and got a PS2 for christmas..."

I'm like, "wasn't the PS2 released like, last year?" I'm old.

[–]zydego 411 points412 points ago

I had to legally sell a beer to someone born in 1991 the other day. Yeah. Think about that one.

[–]FreakingScience 100 points101 points ago

I like to imagine things in terms of movies that came out that year. The kid you sold a beer to was at most six months old when Terminator 2: Judgement Day opened in theaters.

[–]verygoodname 98 points99 points ago

Relevant. Do you realize that "The Little Mermaid" came out closer to the moon landing than to the present day?

[–]MarlonBain 426 points427 points ago

Ha, you idiot, you did the math completely wrong. People who were born in 1991 can't buy alcohol, they're only....

Aw fuck. I'm old.

[–]B0h1c4 66 points67 points ago

I regularly do this with my facebook friends. I see a picture of my niece at a party with a beer in her hand and think "I wonder if my sister has seen this....oh wait a minute.....she's 22 years old now.....holy shit."

[–]mynicehat 10 points11 points ago

Here in the UK it's legal for someone born in 1994 to buy alcohol. 1994!

[–]seethreepeeoh 21 points22 points ago

I've got something worse than that... A coworker's daughter, who was born in 1997, is pregnant.

[–]willendorfVenus 15 points16 points ago

Appalling for an entirely different reason. ):

[–]oogew 184 points185 points ago

I was interviewing summer interns last year and asked one of them "Are you a gamer?" He proceeded to tell me about all the "old-school" games that he was into. They were all PS2 games, including a few I'd worked on. I felt ancient.

[–]Pteryx 15 points16 points ago

Which ones? If you want to say, that is.

[–]darkeyesgirl 15 points16 points ago

I mentioned to a group of middle school aged kids that I still have a working PS I (tons of games) and they stared at me slack jawed. I didn't bother to mention that I still have a working Intellivision.

Damn this thread is making me feel old. I'm not even halfway down yet...

[–]jontss 89 points90 points ago

I have that same phenomenon but I'm only 27.

For example, I hear a song on the radio and think, "Oh yeah, I keep meaning to download this new song." Then the host comes on a goes, "That was our way back playback from 1999." (Which was 13 fucking years ago!)

[–]philychez 151 points152 points ago

ANIMANIACS WAS 20 YEARS AGO! HOW is that possible?? :(

[–]Hotmugofshite 63 points64 points ago

My kids love Toy Story. It's 17 years old!!. Still absolutely quality.

[–]silentsiren75 22 points23 points ago

I've still got baloney in my slacks. How is that possible?

[–]ivebeenhereallsummer 7 points8 points ago

I just found a Soul Coughing CD at a thrift shop I had been meaning to buy... since 1998.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points ago

Honestly as a 20-something I might cringe worse.

"Lol does anyone else remember this massively popular show/game that pretty much defined my whole childhood? ZOMG U TOO LETS BE BFFS"

[–]GARBAGEDAYY 10 points11 points ago

Yeah tbh the whole "I'M FOREVER A 90S KID! TAZOS AND POKEMON AND NICKELODEON" thing is getting a little overused.

[–]enkafan 197 points198 points ago

Cooking, movies and the funny is just a maturity thing. Not really cringe worthy to me, just an "aww, they are growing up"

Cringe worthy are the "lol, i totally pissed <insert authority figure> off by using my SUPERIOR LOGIC abilities to PROVE they are stupid and I am better". Jesus those are awkward. Thank god when I went through that phase the internet wasnt as good at saving everything you typed out.

[–]respectwalk 1072 points1073 points ago

Facebook posts!

Look at how ignorant and racist/sexist/stupid the people I've chosen to add to my Facebook are! Lookit how I told them off!

[–]InconsiderateBastard 548 points549 points ago

the people I've chosen to add to my Facebook

That is the part that hurts my soul.

[–]RapeYouInTheFace 219 points220 points ago

Any time I think "Hmm, why is there never anything retarded on my facebook that I can karma whore from?" I remember this.

[–]megustacerveza 10 points11 points ago

haha. or "look how horribly ignorant and batshit crazy this person I used to be in a voluntary romantic relationship with is!"

[–]ckitz 289 points290 points ago

90% of r/atheism in a nutshell.

[–]ReMO451 68 points69 points ago

"Hey guys, my Facebook friend asked us to pray for her puppy going into surgery. I commented telling her God doesn't exist and the puppy will die anyway. I'm a better person because I'm not brainwashed, right?"

[–]DariusBlack 116 points117 points ago

There needs to be a filter for that shit. I've started automatically downvoting any link that even remotely sounds like a FB caption, without even clicking.

[–]DANS331 113 points114 points ago

I automatically downvote every screencap of a facebook post without reading it. I'm sorry but the site is infinitely better without them. I can't imagine a picture of anything that someone's idiot friend, coworker, mom, dad, uncle, grandmother etc posted being worth reading.

[–]DariusBlack 48 points49 points ago

Especially considering that most of them are poorly shopped for maximum controversy.

[–]DANS331 15 points16 points ago

Actually it usually seems like they are poorly shopped for the MINIMUM amount of controversy. "Total fundamentalist Christian old lady burn!" "Perfectly constructed 'get back in the kitchen' joke!" "What a clever observation at Justin Beiber / Twilight's expense!"

[–]SuperMoses82 64 points65 points ago

Pls. For the love of God, dont forget to downvote iphone screenshots

[–]DrAnhero 75 points76 points ago

Normally it's automatic. But that stalker girlfriend one last night was gold. I kept expecting it to end, but it never did.

[–]Rowdybunny05 15 points16 points ago

It's worse now when I see things on Facebook I saw a year ago on Reddit. I've become some sort of evil reddit/Facebook hipster and I hate myself for it.

[–]plado 1125 points1126 points ago

I have a medical condition only a Doctor can help me with, reddit, what should I do?

I'm having a problem only the police can help me with, reddit, what should I do?

I'm having a legal issue only a lawyer can solve, reddit, what should I do?

[–]idratherusethephone 671 points672 points ago

My house is on fire. What should I do?

One guy said I should call 911, but I'm not sure my libertarian principles will allow me to use a publicly-funded resource. I'm not a communist, after all.

[–]Pokemaniac_Ron 373 points374 points ago

DEATH IS A PREFERABLE ALTERNATIVE TO COMMUNISM.

[–]thebrainkid 242 points243 points ago

Better dead than red!

[–]ApocalypseThen 94 points95 points ago*

These two comments are like the thread in microcosm.

("Death is a preferable alternative to communism" is a quote from a giant robot in the game Fallout 3; "Better dead than red" is an anti-communist slogan from the actual 50s)

EDIT: _ => )

I'm not sure what sort of poignant commentary you're attempting to make here.

I don't think anyone truly expects their problems to be solved by reddit. All they're looking for is a bit of knowledge, so that they can try to solve the problem with more insight.

[–]loser_face 107 points108 points ago

This guy is right, just having the basic knowledge available to you when you actually go to see the lawyer/police/doctor prevent mistakes, or outright deceptions, from happening.

Being a position of respect has taught these particular professions that people really won't question anything they say - so they often make mistakes; either through genuine carelessness or outright malice.

Having a modicum of domain knowledge to start the conversation on the right foot at least lets you know that you aren't going to get sub par service.

[–]TH3_FORC3 610 points611 points ago

Any post that would have gotten better results as a Google search

[–]beccaonice 140 points141 points ago

Interestingly enough, with people I know in real life, the older generation is a much worse offender with this.

[–]The_Chief 59 points60 points ago

USE THE FUCKING SEARCH BAR

[–]chronodestroyer 19 points20 points ago

The search engine is terrible on reddit. I can search for something using keywords from its title that is on the frontpage and it still wouldn't find it. Why I would search for something that's on the frontpage is my business and my business alone fine sir

[–]domdell 26 points27 points ago

there's a thingy for that

[–][deleted] 102 points103 points ago

I downvote all of these, including, "no one will see this but..." or "this will get buried but..."

I can't stand this shit.

[–]lolmonade 29 points30 points ago

I sincerely doubt this is something people under 35 are the only ones guilty of.

...I upvoted anyway, because this is incredibly annoying.

[–]lolmonade 341 points342 points ago

Anything with the words "forever alone" in it, when being completely serious.

[–]Grain_of_Salt_ 296 points297 points ago

Well I'm in med school so I'm forever a loan. Sad Face.

[–]AwwYea 205 points206 points ago

People posting facebook conversations with a comment that was posted '3 seconds ago'.

People just look for some opportunity to make a comment that would appeal to the reddit audience and instantly screen cap the moment; upload to imgur and eagerly await the resulting karma score.

It's just fucking silly.

[–]Uninvited_Corrector 37 points38 points ago

Related: 1) creating a sign; 2) printing it out; 3) posting it someplace allegedly public; 4) taking picture of said sign; 5) posting on Reddit with a title along the lines of "look what I found while [doing something]"; 6) await karma.

[–]Gillepsy 161 points162 points ago

I'm going to get downed. I'm going to get downed. SO GET OFF YOUR SEATS AND JUMP AROUND.

[–]DJBJ 181 points182 points ago

I'm only 21 but I have one to contribute - the Friendzone posts.

[–]glacinda 68 points69 points ago

My personal feeling? If someone whines about the "friend zone" then s/he deserves to be there.

Grow up, realize you don't get sex because you're a nice guy/nice girl and either accept the situation or don't stay in contact with them. That's the problem is social media now. We hang on for far too long to stalk facebook posts, twitter, etc because it's socially unacceptable to defriend someone. :/

[–]MC_Cuff_Lnx 5 points6 points ago

We hang on for far too long to stalk facebook posts, twitter, etc because it's socially unacceptable to defriend someone. :/

Just remove them from your newsfeed.

Then create a list called 'uhoh'. If you don't want somebody seeing your updates, add them to your uhoh list. In your privacy settings, make sure that everything is set up such that only friends can see it - except those on your list.

I had a shitlist before facebook, but I was never able to organize it so conveniently!

[–][deleted] 432 points433 points ago*

I am just jealous that their generation feels that blowjobs (including swallowing) are no big deal and that women shave.

I grew up in the 70's. Hairy and the rare BJ.

EDIT: And they got internet porn while I had to make do with the bra ads in the Sears catalog.

[–]oogew 297 points298 points ago

Harry and the Rare BJ sounds like a 70s show. Probably about a family band that owns a crime-solving chimp.

[–]RapeYouInTheFace 76 points77 points ago

As a female, both of these newfound practices are hard to keep up and often irritating. (Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my haaaair...)

[–]agnosticpope 452 points453 points ago

The subreddit /r/amiugly.

[–]shindlerslift 166 points167 points ago

all i can see in this subreddit is people who look fine/good and are fishing forr compliments. I did not see a single ugly person in 10+ posts.

[–]measuredinyears 130 points131 points ago

Probably deleted their posts after confirming their suspicions. There is, after all, a tutorial on deleting posts.

The 11th person is now crying because of you. Crying and eating Chocolate. I hope you're happy.

[–]joenot443 15 points16 points ago

The whole thing is a big fucking paradox. Ugly people get downvoted because they're ugly. "Cute" or moderately attractive people get upvotes because they pretend to think they're ugly, when in reality they just need an ego boost.

I don't really have anything against the subreddit, it's just a little illogical and apparently broken by default.

[–]the_silent_redditor 79 points80 points ago

My fucking God why is this even a thing. I hate people.

[–]slimJlMmy 27 points28 points ago

I checked it out for a bit and honestly I don't understand all this hatred for it. Most people on there seemed like people who just wanted to better themselves and were looking for honest, brutal advice (most people took harsh comments quite well). And I have no problem with this because it's very hard to get honest opinions form people in our everyday lives.

[–]Quis_Custodiet 59 points60 points ago

So you object to a subreddit which exists gives people reassurance or advice on something they're clearly concerned about?

Let's be clear, the answers in that subreddit aren't yes or no. They give people who are concerned about their appearence constructive advice on what they could do to feel better about themselves, given that they already in some way attatch a sense of worth to how other people percieve them physically. It's not useful to a person who lack confidence in their appearence that it's 'only what's on the inside that counts,' mostly because that's not initially true in terms of people finding you attractive.

Yes I'm sure there are some people fishing for compliments who know they're attractive, and frankly I don't care, but it is still helpful for people who are unsure or insecure to know that there are things they can do to make themselves more attractive to other people, if that's what they want.

You may as well complain that r/malefashionadvice exists.

[–]piina 110 points111 points ago

How dare they have self esteem issues!

[–]ZombieDog 184 points185 points ago

I'm still on my parents insurance, but let me tell you about parenting and how the current generation has screwed us over.

The sense of irony is incredible as I remember doing the exact same thing when I was in my 20s.

[–]Thump241 38 points39 points ago

I appreciate the irony part you speak of. I used to give an older guy I worked with all sorts of crap, being a 19yo and he in his 30s. "Oh, you went to a KISS concert? Yer so old!! HAHAHA!" One day, he said to me "I want you to continue making fun of me like this all you want. Because, one day some kid is going to do the same to you..." Sure enough, the other day a younger co-worker... "A modem? on a land line? Who the fuck has a land line any more!!?? 56K? Man, thats when I just shut my computer off, that is so fucking slow!" So I hit him with my cane...

[–]hereshowitis 184 points185 points ago

DAE remember this video game or kids' tv show from 12 years ago?? OMG!! 1992 was 20 years ago!!!!!

[–]RubSomeFunkOnIt 39 points40 points ago

That seems, to me, like something coming from the 30 and over crowd. Suddenly realizing that you can remember a score of years with some accuracy would be quite a whallop.

[–]SugarDuck 21 points22 points ago

If you remember (90s Nick show/Original # of Pokemon here) You're Awesome!!!111!!.... NO, you're not awesome you are just in the right age group.

[–]dirtymoney 6 points7 points ago

especially when you never had nickelodeon growing up. Its like a part of life I completely missed out on that most kids apparently had.

Fraggle rock was a special treat because we never had cable, but we DID have a family friend that DID have cable & taped it for us.

[–]blankey2 61 points62 points ago

Not so much any particular post, but wandering around reddit is like walking into a room full of hormone-filled teenagers who are attempting to frenetically and blindly copulate with the furniture, the stairs, the doors and windows, the refrigerator, stove, garbage disposal, toaster, and anything else that happens to catch their eye.

Sometimes also the TIL's get me going, things like "TIL I learned that Chapman killed John Lennon because of The Catcher in the Rye and was trying to impress Jodie Foster!" and other things that serve as very basic and very common cultural knowledge for me but which a whole new generation, once again, has to learn about and be amazed about all over again. The problem with this one is not with the young people of course but with me, I just get impatient that things that seem like everyone should know need to get rediscovered over and over again as if they were brand know knowledge.

Also I have seen a lot of veneration of older actors (Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freedman, Bill Murray, etc.) that borders on hero worship, actors who by any estimation yes are good but were pretty much just one out of the pack back in my day and I can't really understand why they get the attention they do. I mean, I get they did a lot of cool movies, but so did a lot of other actors who never get mentioned, and I'm not sure they're really good people.

But I look upon myself as a visitor to Reddit, an old-ish guy in a young person's forum, so I attempt to be at ease with these things. It's no big deal in the total scheme of things.

[–]cupsarap 130 points131 points ago

"MIND=BLOWN"

Grant it, I know its a phrase to express amazement. But seeing the frequency of ease of its use only makes me think there's a serial-mind fellatior or bomber out finding endless victims at easily impressed high schools and college campuses.

[–]Niftypifty 25 points26 points ago

Holy shit, "serial-mind fellatior" cracked me up.

DAE like smoking weed? Weed weed weed weed weed. Weed weed. (Pot).

[–]Hwaaa 105 points106 points ago

This is more like it. Makes me wonder if this site is now populated with 13 year olds.

[–]calm_collective 23 points24 points ago

When youre in your teens and you first start smoking pot you identify with the culture and bla bla bla about it pretty intensely. That (at least for me) sorta died out when I got to my late teens. Im assuming that a lot of Ents is populated by overly vocal and enthusiastic teens that haven't really smoked for that long. And some mega stoners. Still..could be worse.

Why is anything in this thread clearly done by young people? It's not, none of these behaviors are exclusive to young people except maybe talking about pokemon.

Or some 80's song that (on youtube) has the comments: "94% of teens hate this song and listen to Justin Beiber and other pop people! LIKE IF YOU'RE ONE OF THE 6%!"

Really? I'm pretty sure a LOT more than 6% of teens like "Livin on a Prayer".

Or "LIKE THIS IF __________ SENT YOU!"

No, my taste in music sent me there.

[–]iszatrite 288 points289 points ago

When did zombies become so interesting?

[–]dturner0413 182 points183 points ago*

I think it was about sometime after 33AD when the zombie craze exploded.

[–]iseetheendnow 10 points11 points ago

I do see what you did there but the oldest record of zombie-like beings would be in the Epic of Gilgamesh Dated to approximately 2150 BC. Tablet 6 contains the reference to a zombie apocalypse.

[–]CherrySlurpee 204 points205 points ago

I'm a 25 year old redditor and most of the posts on here make me cringe.

mostly the ones revolving around politics that link to some super biased website.

[–]Uninvited_Corrector 9 points10 points ago

Related: posts such as "There should be a law that makes [doing something police must do] illegal?" or "All evidence of criminal conduct should be inadmissible unless it is verified by video from five different angles and has at least 20 eye witnesses!!!1!!!1!!"

[–]serfis 42 points43 points ago

Why not just unsubscribe from those subreddits?

[–]Radicou 8 points9 points ago

They have a tendency to leak. I'm not subbed to /r/atheism or /r/politics, but that doesn't stop people from posting those topics in other subs.

EDIT: For some reason I missed all the other posts saying the same thing. Well don't I feel silly.

[–]GreatWallOfGina 81 points82 points ago

Every subreddit turns into ultra-liberal circlejerks. I already unsubbed from r/politics, r/atheism, and r/Canada because of it, and will soon have to unsubscribe from non-political ones like /r/TIL and /r/WTF because of how often it leaks through. And I lean more on the liberal side too, it's just so infuriating how hypocritical and ignorant a lot of redditors can be.

[–]EllieTuttle 10 points11 points ago

"No way man, this isn't ultra-liberal or biased. Fox News, now THAT'S biased!"

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points ago

Well, let's be fair. "TIL" is the stupidest subreddit in existence. Besides unsourced Wikipedia comments, I've also seen people ink directly to GOD DAMN ADVERTISING SITES.

"Today I learned about a miracle drug called Miragro! It was suppressed by a conspiracy and now is available from these fine distributors!"

Fucking idiots.

[–]Virtualmatt 91 points92 points ago

Before I spent serious time on reddit, I had this glamorized view of liberals when contrasted with conservatives. I thought to myself, "It's amazing how conservatives spread so much fear, ignorance, and misinformation with their message—unlike liberals."

Reddit, though, is the liberal equivalent of Fox News, except with less fact-checking.

[–]GreatWallOfGina 31 points32 points ago

Same, I used to look down so much on people that voted conservative. Now I just hate idiots, and there are plenty on each side.

[–]BlameLasers 37 points38 points ago

"DAE remember Nintendo 64 games?!"

[–]TheBoxTalks 241 points242 points ago

"so this girl that I kind of like texted me blah blah and I texted her back blah blah and her friend texted blah blah and my bro texted blah blah and I don't know what to do because I have no critical thinking skills and my brain isn't fully developed yet and I think this is the most important thing in the world right now because I can't see outside of my own life. What do I do Reddit?"

[–]Al0g0s 215 points216 points ago

you're just pissed you didn't have reddit when you were that age. or texing. or computers. or fire.

[–]TheBoxTalks 176 points177 points ago

Oh, we had all those things, but we had different names for them. Reddit was called "Prodigy", texting was called "notes", computers were called "Oregon Trail machines", and fire was called "magic".

[–]bugdog 26 points27 points ago

Hey, my grandmother was on the Fire Committee and she says that magic was one of the runners up for Name the New Thing. Ouchie-Burnie shit was another. Fire won because they didn't want to sound like idiots with their talk of magic and ouchie-burnie shit.

[–]goodbyeart 5 points6 points ago

I love this response.

[–]BlameLasers 172 points173 points ago

Not quite over 35 here, but:
"All it takes to be successful and rich is to work hard! Poor people are just lazy and looking for a handout!"

[–]temp45645 126 points127 points ago

Don't forget an engineering degree.

[–]AMostOriginalUserNam 20 points21 points ago

I wish that were just limited to one age group, I really do.

[–]epicasual 52 points53 points ago

le me derping with asdaHIFAHWAFHW#JFHW(JAM(V)DASJHFA IFAHAOLAF

[–]Protesilaus2501 56 points57 points ago

I particularly enjoy posts that are close to being intersting but hit the 'Dick Wall'. Post: "Lookie! A cool thing!" Adult Reply: "Nice job. That's an artistic device 'A' of obscure cultural origin 'B'." Reply, probably under 30: "eat a dick"

The time and effort needed to post such an offer, generous as it may be, inspires my need to leave this planet immediately.

[–]slyder565 31 points32 points ago

Or "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" posts...

[–]FattyMcPatty 57 points58 points ago

I'm going to get downvoted to hell for this

Stop this shit. Please. For the love of everything. Your post does not need this fucking prefix.

[–]Johnny_Appleweed 21 points22 points ago

In everything: Using the words "retarded" and "gay" as insults.

[–]chr1sp 370 points371 points ago

And the funny thing is the second highest comment right now is

Pokemon stuff. We get it. You're retarded.

So in conclusion you might want to reconsider your statement.

[–]forum1388 166 points167 points ago

And in response: You're gay!

[–]aldenso 41 points42 points ago

Ya, retard.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]Exnie 8 points9 points ago

How so you feel about "lame" and "dumb?"

[–]deepwank 40 points41 points ago

What are you, fucking differently abled?

[–]ROBOT-DINOSAUR-NINJA 14 points15 points ago

That is so an enduring pattern of or disposition to experience sexual, affectional, or romantic attractions primarily or exclusively to people of the same sex... yo!

[–]DANS331 181 points182 points ago

"Seriously guys it's OK to call women bitches, homosexuals faggots, the mentally disabled retards, and African-Americans niggers. They're just words, words never hurt anybody. I'm a 21 year old white kid from the suburbs and words never hurt me. It would be racist / sexist / homophobic / etc to NOT call people those words (somehow)."

[–]ArcticSpaceman 57 points58 points ago

African-Americans

I fucking hate that term. It's just drawing attention to the fact someone's different. Why don't White people get called "European Americans?" If a Canadian moved to America would we call them a "Canadian American?" No, because they're Canadian until they live here long enough to be an American. It's not racist to call, or notice, or note that someone's black, it's racist if you decide that you're going to treat them differently because of it.

[–]ellejaygee 27 points28 points ago

I didn't think that was a 20-something thing, I thought that was just being from New Jersey.

[–]Gramma42ton 168 points169 points ago

Posts by someone in one age group randomly picking some other age group to bash when imbeciles come in every age and gender ಠ_ಠ

[–]OrdinaryAnomaly[!] 21 points22 points ago

This is probably the most relevant post. The part that makes me laugh is the 35+ age limit.

"Okay, what problems do you have with the younger 20-somethings? And you have to be over 35 years old!"

"Bitch, I'm 46 and YOU are a little shit in my eyes."

"58 here, it's nice that you think you're old and haven't even reached 50. Meanwhile I'm pushing 60."

"That's adorable. I'm 75 years old and my children are older than you!"

"Oh please, little lady. I am 103 years YOUNG and I could be your grandfather! My GREAT grandson had to type this for me. That's how old I am! I'd make fun of you all but I don't even know what year it is anymore!"

[–]roltrap 8 points9 points ago

Words of wisdom. "As a 30-year old" this thread makes me cringe.

[–]PaperBlake 12 points13 points ago

Remember Paul Christoforo? Yeah, he's 38. I'm not buying your arbitrary line for maturity.

[–]ghostsofaviation 42 points43 points ago

anything ignorant about pregnancy, childbirth or children.

people have been having kids for millenia. get over it.

[–]goodbyeart 10 points11 points ago

Very true. I think it's time to stop now.

[–]FrostMonstreme 4 points5 points ago

TIL that Bill Clinton was investigated for perjury!

[–]akslavok 601 points602 points ago

All of the atheist propaganda posts in general. I grew up in a fundy Christian church and these people were always pushing Jesus down everyone's throats. It was invasive. I find the Christian bashing, atheist promoting on reddit to be exactly the same.
I'm an atheist myself now, but I believe that people should be free believe in whatever they want without being harassed.

[–]deepwank 68 points69 points ago

I agree with you. I'm a gnostic pantheist Zoroastrian myself, but I wouldn't try to shove Ahura Mazda down your throat.

[–]oldfella 8 points9 points ago

oh boy here goes:

"look that person is doing/holding/wearing a mac/bike/camera/skinny jeans what a fucking hipster"

and all I can think is: that's just young people being young, nothing wrong with that

goodbye karma

[–]porcelina919 65 points66 points ago

Probably the only thing I agree with you on is the atheism one. But I don't think that's all posted by twenty year olds. Why don't you just unsubscribe from the offending subreddits? I unsubscribed from /r/atheism because it was shitting me off so badly, and I'm an atheist. My reddit experience increased tenfold.

As for the rage comics, I don't even understand why the they're called 'rage' comics anymore. They're just about random shit that happens in peoples' everyday lives. In saying that, I still find them entertaining to read. But, like I said, you obviously have an account, so you may as well just unsubscribe from those subreddits. They aren't going to change, you just have to leave them and live in sweet, sweet ignorant bliss...

[–]mhender 45 points46 points ago

I bet you get similar demographic results for Reddit across the board...I want to know how ugly they are and find a pretentiometer.

[–]fatfook 3 points4 points ago

13 year old Christians telling me I need to read the bible some more and study it's contents.

15 year olds saying they are splitting up after a long term relationship and it's breaking their heart.

[–]dirtymoney 3 points4 points ago

I dont know if its the guys in their twenties doing it, but pics of very young girls posted in NSFW often make me feel like a pedophile when i see them. I much prefer pics of naked chicks in their 20s... just to be on the safe side.
